Week 13-A Visit From A Reporter

Last Tuesday Patrick Corbett, a reporter for the Utica OD, visited our journalism class. He is a very well spoken man, with an interesting story to tell of his professional life as a journalist. After asking us if any of us intended to become journlists, ( to which we answered in the negative) he urged us to find a career that we enjoyed doing. He discussed some of the different careers he had originally been interested in, and told us that he almost stumbled into a career as a journalist. He discussed some of the changes that have occurred in journalism over the years, especially since the rise of the Internet. He also warned us that although the Internet can be a great source of information, to be cautious about selecting webites to use for information.

I really enjoyed listening to Mr. Corbett, and wished I had prepared some questions to ask him ahead of time. I appreciate him taking the time from his schedule to talk to us, and I thank him for coming.
